I understand, perhaps more than most people, the problems that can be associated and related to
moles on skin; those annoying little spots that can inundate our bodies. My entire life has been spent thinking
about and contemplating the normalcy of moles on skin and therefore I believe I have insights into the dangers of
moles that only a small percentage of people have.
I am, shall I say, blessed with hundreds on moles; moles on the skin of by body, moles on the skin of my face
and everywhere else. When I was a child I thought they were a complete curse and I received much humiliation as a
result of the moles I exhibited. When I was still quite young I went to the dermatologist so she could examine my
moles.
I was concerned that they could be cancerous moles because I researched the subject and found many moles on skin
pictures and pictures of skin tags and became concerned that I may have or develop melanoma as a result of the
quantity on moles on skin I have and the exposure to the sun I had. The results of my scan from the dermatologist
confirmed that I had no cancerous moles, but I was still no satisfied...
I wanted to be rid on the moles on my body and the moles on face because they had become the subject of jokes
and ridicule at school. I began to understand later in life that moles can be quite distinguishing and that people
actually enjoy and find attractive the character that moles bring to one's face. I did eventually have a couple of
my moles removed by a plastic surgeon because I had some red moles on skin that seemed odd.
Other than those two moles that were red, I saw no need to remove any more; I actually began to hear from woman
that my moles were quite attractive and they appreciated the character they brought to me.
I am now an adult and I have discovered that moles are far less interesting to people than I once thought;
either that or I am just not as concerned with people's perceptions about them. The only problem that persists
regarding my moles is that I must always be aware of the exposure I have to the sun. It is well known to anyone who
has moles that sunlight can be detrimental to your health and moles can quickly develop melanoma as a result of too
much exposure to the sun.
Because of this I always find it prudent to utilize sunscreen when I plan on spending any time outdoors and
wearing clothing that covers the areas of my body that have a high density of moles. So far I have not had to deal
with any complications regarding my moles, but that might be because I have a family history not only of moles, but
of skin cancer and melanoma. As a result I am extremely careful whenever I plan on spending any time in direct
sunlight; because as anyone who has moles will readily explain, moles and sunlight do not mix.
I have found however that with careful thoughtfulness and understanding, a person with hundreds of moles on
their body can live a perfectly normal and healthy life. I am writing this and coming forward because I believe
that attention needs to be focused more towards moles on skin, particularly as it relates to the health risks that
can potentially be associated with moles in areas that are regularly exposed to the sun, particularly those located
on the face and head.
